Atkins Store Design

“Working with Rigney Forge on the Bandon store has been transformative for our business. From the very first workshop, they understood not just our brief, but our history, our customers, and the role Atkins plays in the farming community. The end result is more than a store, it’s an experience our customers genuinely enjoy. The layout is intuitive, the branding feels like ‘us’. and the space has a warmth that encourages people to spend time here. We’ve seen increased footfall, higher engagement, and overwhelmingly positive feedback. Rigney Forge delivered on every promise, and the store has become a real point of pride for our team.”
Mark Wolfe, Managing Director of Atkins

THE OBJECTIVE

Atkins is a fifth-generation family-run Farm & Garden store in Bandon, Co. Cork. Since 1878, they have been a trusted name, serving their community for nearly 150 years. Rigney Forge partnered with Atkins on their transformation, with the objective to reimagine Atkins as a modern retail destination while honouring its nearly 150-year heritage. Rigney Forge led the transformation, delivering everything from logo and brand identity design to the complete store environment and implementation support during the fit-out to deliver a confident, future-ready customer experience.

THE STORE DESIGN

Inside and out, the store environment was designed to inspire exploration and make navigation intuitive. Natural materials, abundant light, and clear wayfinding create a welcoming retail journey that combines the reliability of a family-run business with the energy and innovation of a contemporary retail destination.

What we did.

BRAND IDENTITY

STORE DESIGN

IMPLEMENTATION SUPPORT:

Liaising with suppliers, shopfitters and printing companies to ensure the smooth delivery of the new space.

THE CHALLENGE

The previos stores lacked a clear identity, failing to reflect the quality and breadth of Atkins’ offering. The challenge was to reimagine the entire customer journey-from roadside impression to in store experience-under one compelling brand story. At the same time, the design needed to balance two distinct retail categories: agricultural machinery and garden products. Our goal was to give equal weight to tradition and innovation while ensuring the Akins brand remained the central, unifying presence.

THE RESULT

The transformation delivers a striking, modern destination that stands out on approach and feels engaging at every customer touchpoint. The result came together with a confident brand presence, thoughtful merchandising, and a store environment that makes shopping effortless, inspiring, and distinctly Atkins.
